A special cultural event today featured National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam's Leto Gaan and Kabigaan at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The event was organized at the auditorium of the National Music and Dance Centre as part of the ongoing celebrations of Nazrul Barsho, highlighting the folk heritage, creative spirit, and rebellious consciousness embedded in his works, according to a press release.

The programme commenced with a paper presentation titled "Kazi Nazrul Islam's Leto Gaan and Kabigaan: Exploring the Sources of Folk Heritage, Creativity and Rebel Consciousness" by Dr. Kamal Khalid, associate professor and head of the Department of Folk Song at Government Music College. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Poet Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed (Rezauddin Stalin) presided over the function, while Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani spoke at the event. Director of the Academy's Music, Dance and Recitation Department Mehjabeen Rahman delivered the welcome speech.

The second session began with a performance of the Leto song 'Andha Raja', directed and conceptualized by Dr. Kamal Khalid, with overall supervision by Saima Ahmed Liza. Leto teams "Nimsha Leto Dal" and "Medenipur Leto Dal" performed the traditional piece. Later, a performance of "Kabir Lorai," written by Kazi Nazrul Islam, was staged under the direction and conceptualization of Jibon Chowdhury.
