On August 12, 2026, Rajshahi University's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Md. Faridul Islam, launched a national seminar titled 'The Musical Diversity of Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Sangeet'. During his address, he emphasized that Rabindra Sangeet resonates with human emotions and nature's subtleties, while Nazrul Sangeet inspires revolutionary and reformist movements, highlighting both as key components of Bangladesh's cultural heritage.

Prof. Islam's remarks underscored the diverse lyrical, melodic, and rhythmic elements of these musical genres, which he believes offer not only artistic inspiration but also mental, social, and moral upliftment. The seminar, organized by the Department of Music at Rajshahi University, featured a lineup of academic presentations and discussions over two days.

The inaugural ceremony took place at the Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Building, with several university and academic dignitaries in attendance, including Pro-Vice-Chancellors and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The event, which began with the hoisting of national and university flags, is expected to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of these significant musical traditions among attendees.

Participants at the seminar included music scholars, students, and enthusiasts from across the country, as well as special guests from other universities and cultural institutions. The seminar aims to explore the rich tapestry of Bengali music, celebrating its historical and contemporary impact on society.

By bringing together a diverse group of participants, the seminar not only serves as a platform for academic exchange but also as a cultural event that reinforces the importance of preserving and promoting Bengali music in Bangladesh.
