On August 12, 2026, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam denied actor Ashraful Haque Don's bail application in the case concerning the murder of superstar Salman Shah. The decision came after a hearing held in the capital. Don was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on August 9 and subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by immigration police, before being sent to jail later that day.

Salman Shah's maternal uncle, Alamgir Kumkum, filed a case against 11 individuals, including Salman's wife Samira Haque, on October 21, 2025, at Ramna Police Station. The case was initially treated as a murder case by Dhaka's sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge on October 20, 2025. The other accused are Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Samira's mother Latifa Haque Lusi, David, Zaved, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju, and Rijvi Ahmed Farhad.

The case against Don and the other accused stems from the death of Salman Shah, whose real name was Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar (Emon). The investigation into the murder continues, with Don remaining in custody as the court rejected his bail plea.

Salman Shah was a beloved figure in the Bangladeshi film industry, and his death has been a significant event, leading to widespread public interest and media coverage. The ongoing investigation is expected to provide further insights into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

Alamgir Kumkum, who filed the case, has been vocal about seeking justice for Salman Shah. The involvement of high-profile individuals in the case has garnered significant attention, reflecting the deep impact of the actor's death on the nation.

As the court continues to process the case, the public awaits further developments, hoping for clarity and justice in the tragic loss of a prominent cultural icon.
