Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof A Z M Zahid Hossain today emphasized that children are like flowers and their hidden talents should be nurtured. He made the remarks as the chief guest at an event marking the launch of the children's reality competition 'Shaplakuri 2026' on Channel i in Dhaka.

Competition Details

The Bangladesh Zia Child Academy is organizing the competition under the slogan, 'Wherever there is talent, there we are.' This is the 14th edition of Shaplakuri. Children who won preliminary rounds in 12 zones across the country will compete in six disciplines: Qirat, recitation, acting, music, dance, and instrumental music.

Structure and Categories

The competition will have 15 individual and three group categories. A contestant can take part in up to three individual events and one group event. Winners will be selected for first, second, and third places in each category. Two Shaplakuri Champions will also be chosen from two divisions.

Broadcast and Registration

The episodes will be broadcast on Channel i. Registration will remain open from July 26 to August 20, 2026. Details are available on Channel i and the Bangladesh Zia Child Academy website.

Minister's Vision

Zahid said the Shaplakuri reality show is helping discover children's artistic talents. Many renowned artists in the country have emerged through Channel i's cultural programmes, he added. He hopes this competition will bring forward new talented artists who will enrich the country's cultural arena.
