Seventeen leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations were arrested during a police raid in Dhaka's Mirpur-12 area. The raid took place at around 6:30 am on Friday beside Metro Rail Pillar No. 140, where a procession was allegedly held aimed at conspiring against the government and spreading propaganda.
Details of the Raid
According to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) press release, the police conducted the drive targeting leaders and activists of the Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, and their associate bodies. The arrested individuals include Sujon Hossain, Nasir, Robiul Islam, Ariful Islam Akash, Alomgir Islam, Billal Hossain, Moniruzzaman Shawon, Tarek, Nayeem, Syed Limon, Ibrahim, and six children in conflict with the law.
Seized Items and Legal Action
During the operation, police seized a banner, a rented microbus, and two smartphones from the detainees' possession. Legal action against the arrested individuals is currently underway, as confirmed by the police. The specific charges and further details regarding the legal proceedings are yet to be disclosed.
