Khulna District Unit BNP, in collaboration with Khulna city BNP, has planned a series of events to commemorate the party’s 48th founding anniversary on September 1. The celebrations will kick off with a discussion and doa mahfil at 11:00am, followed by a colourful rally at 3:00pm. From September 2, various programmes will be held at upazila and municipal levels, including discussion meetings, doa mahfils, voluntary blood donation, tree plantation, and fish release, among other public welfare activities.

The decisions were made at a preparatory meeting held at KD Ghosh Road, chaired by BNP Khulna district convener Moniruzzaman Montu. Addressing the meeting, Montu emphasized the importance of involving people from all walks of life in the celebrations. He stressed the need to ensure grassroots people’s access to various facilities, including Family Cards, Farmers’ Cards, agricultural loan waivers, canal excavation, and Health Cards, through district and union councils.

Montu called upon party leaders with government responsibilities to play their due roles to ensure the BNP remains connected with the mass people. He highlighted that the anniversary would be a historic milestone in strengthening the party’s commitment to the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and in restoring democracy, sovereignty, and people’s rights in Bangladesh.

He urged leaders and activists from every thana, union, and ward of Khulna district to participate in the anniversary programmes in an organized manner, without causing any inconvenience to the general public. District BNP acting member secretary and District Council Administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, who moderated the meeting, announced that the BNP would nominate single candidates in local government elections.

Bappi urged party leaders and activists to work unitedly to ensure victory for the party-nominated candidates and to start reaching out to voters from the very beginning. A large number of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters from nine upazilas and two municipalities are expected to join the colourful rally marking the party’s anniversary.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), founded by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman on September 1, 1978, has been a significant political force in Bangladesh. The party’s founding anniversary is an important event, reflecting its historical role and ongoing commitment to democratic values and public welfare. The elaborate programme in Khulna district underscores the party’s efforts to engage with the community and highlight its initiatives aimed at improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
