The two-day Nazrul Dance Festival 2026, organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, concluded today at the National Music and Dance Auditorium. The festival showcased dance performances based on the songs and poetry of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, highlighting themes such as rebellion, love, equality, humanity, and beauty. The event saw the participation of various dance groups from Dhaka and other parts of the country, presenting classical, folk, and contemporary dance forms inspired by Nazrul's diverse creative works.

Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury attended the concluding programme as the chief guest. State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom and Adviser to the Ministries of Information and Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs Dr Zahed Ur Rahman were also present as special guests. Culture Secretary Yasmin Begum chaired the session, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting Nazrul's legacy through the arts.

The Nazrul Dance Festival is an annual event that celebrates the life and works of Kazi Nazrul Islam, one of Bangladesh's most revered poets and musicians. Known as the Rebel Poet, Nazrul's writings often addressed social injustice, human rights, and the struggle for independence. His influence extends beyond literature and music, inspiring various art forms, including dance.

The festival featured two main sessions. The first session included performances that emphasized Nazrul's revolutionary spirit and his call for social change. The second session showcased a variety of dance groups, each bringing their unique interpretation of Nazrul's themes through different dance styles. The performances were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, highlighting the enduring appeal of Nazrul's work.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the organizer of the festival, plays a crucial role in promoting the arts in Bangladesh. Established to foster and develop the country's cultural heritage, the academy organizes various events and programs throughout the year. The Nazrul Dance Festival is one of its flagship events, attracting artists and audiences alike to celebrate Nazrul's contributions to Bangladeshi culture.
