Ukrainian drone strikes killed five people, including two children, in Russia and on the Moscow-annexed Crimean peninsula. The attacks also triggered a fire at a major oil depot in Russia's south, local officials reported.

Casualties and Damage

In Crimea, the Russia-appointed governor Sergey Aksyonov confirmed that two people, including a child, were killed and two others wounded due to overnight enemy attacks. Additionally, drone strikes in the border Bryansk region resulted in the deaths of a 23-year-old driver and a 15-year-old girl. Another person was killed in the Belgorod region.

Fire at Oil Depot

In Russia's southern Krasnodar Krai region, debris from a drone strike caused a fire at the Poltavskaya oil depot. Aleksandr Kharitonov, head of Krasnoarmeysk district, reported the incident on Russia's state-run Max platform.

Retaliatory Strikes

Ukraine has intensified its strikes on Russia in recent months, retaliating against Moscow's near-daily barrages of drones and missiles throughout its five-year offensive. Kyiv insists that the Ukrainian army primarily targets military installations and energy infrastructure to deprive the Kremlin of vital fossil fuel revenues.

Russian Defense Claims

Russia's defense ministry claimed it shot down 269 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russia and Crimea. Conversely, Ukraine's air force reported that Russia fired 90 drones and an Iskander missile from Crimea at Ukraine, with 83 of the drones being shot down. A crew member was also killed in a strike on a train in the southern Zaporizhzhia region.
