Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler and Norway's Viktor Hovland will meet on Monday morning in a playoff to decide the PGA Tour Travelers Championship after finishing deadlocked on Sunday after 72 holes. Both players completed the tournament at 21-under par 259 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.
Scheffler secured his place in the playoff with a crucial par putt from just inside nine feet on the 18th hole. Hovland, who shot a 69 in the final round, praised Scheffler's performance, saying, 'You see why he is the number one player in the world, making that putt on the last. I'm going to have to bring it tomorrow.'
Scheffler fired a two-under 68 in the final round, while Hovland's 69 was achieved despite a late-afternoon storm that halted play for 83 minutes. Scheffler expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, 'It's nice to be able to hole those putts, keep myself in the tournament. It's more fun when you're making the ones to win, but to keep yourself in it is also nice.'
American Collin Morikawa finished third at 260 after shooting a nine-under par 61, while England's Matt Fitzpatrick was fourth at 261. Wyndham Clark and Akshay Bhatia shared fifth place at 262.
Challenging Conditions
The final round was marked by challenging conditions, including a heavy downpour that forced a suspension of play. Scheffler took the lead with a four-foot birdie putt at the par-five 13th just before the delay. Course workers had to clear puddles to make the final five holes playable.
