In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) emphasized the critical importance of safe digital technology use during a comprehensive workshop. Prof Dr Md Showkat Ali, the Vice-chancellor of BRUR, highlighted that students must be adept in technology and knowledgeable about cyber security, data privacy, and digital ethics. The event, organized by the Scholarship Support Office, focused on creating awareness about cyber risks and enhancing information security.
The workshop, held in the university cafeteria, was a collaborative effort with KiK and GIZ, with the goal of equipping students with the skills necessary to navigate the digital world safely. Commissioner of Police for Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Mohammad Abdul Mabud, delivered a keynote address covering various cybercrimes, prevention strategies, and safe social media use.
Prof Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, Proctor and Registrar (Additional Charge) of BRUR, attended the event as a special guest. The workshop was attended by students from various departments, all eager to enhance their understanding of cybersecurity. The Commissioner discussed topics such as online fraud prevention, personal information protection, and effective password management.
Prof Dr Md Showkat Ali expressed that such initiatives are crucial for developing responsible digital citizens.
