Three food establishments in Sonargaon, a district area, were collectively fined Taka 600,000 for maintaining unhygienic conditions in their food preparation and selling processes. The penalties were issued by a mobile court on Tuesday afternoon in Mogorapara Chowrasta, led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Fairuz Tasnim of the Sonargaon-Kanchpur Revenue Circle. The fined restaurants were Boishakhi Restaurant, Shikdar Dine, and Isha Kha Mishti Ghar.
According to the mobile court, the establishments were found to be in violation of food safety and consumer rights protection laws. They were penalized immediately upon the findings. Fairuz Tasnim emphasized that the drive was aimed at ensuring the public's health and food safety, with plans to continue such drives regularly to safeguard consumers.
The authorities during the operation also instructed the restaurants to adopt and maintain hygienic conditions in the future. Sonargaon Upazila Sanitary Inspector Mosharraf Hossain and a team of Sonargaon police were also present during the enforcement action. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to maintaining food safety standards across the district, which is crucial for public health.
The fines imposed on the restaurants serve as a deterrent and a call to action for other food businesses to adhere to hygiene regulations. As Bangladesh continues to grow, ensuring food safety is becoming increasingly important to protect the health of its citizens.
