Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has accused the previous Awami League government of embezzling Tk 7,000 crore of teachers’ retirement benefits. Speaking at a conference on August 11, 2026, Milon highlighted the financial mismanagement and called for political unity to rebuild the economy.

Milon made the accusation during a session at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, emphasizing that the embezzled funds were meant for teachers’ retirement benefits. He stated that the previous government had diverted thousands of crores of Taka under the guise of commemorating August 15.

In his address, Milon urged all political parties to work together instead of merely criticizing the government. He mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been dedicated to the country’s needs, focusing on various sectors including education, health, and housing.
