Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan today urged the opposition to play a responsible role, stating that the current government was democratically elected through the people’s vote. Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony for a new building at Aichhara High School in Basail upazila, the minister emphasized the importance of calm and rational behavior from the opposition. He reminded them that if they wish to change the government, they must wait for the next election in five years.
Call for Calm and Responsibility
Minister Khan advised the opposition to remain calm and avoid resorting to arson, vandalism, and fascist behavior. He stressed that the government is committed to working for all citizens and will hold free and fair elections under a caretaker government after five years.
Praise and Urging for Responsible Conduct
The minister praised the opposition for their responsible conduct in Parliament and urged them to maintain the same approach in movements outside Parliament. He highlighted the people’s expectation for responsible behavior from the opposition and called for unity under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The foundation laying ceremony was chaired by Syed Mojibur Rahman, chairman of the school’s ad hoc managing committee. Among the attendees were Basail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Iqbal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Basail Alamgir Kabir, and several local BNP leaders.
