Voting for the upcoming presidential election in Bangladesh will occur on August 20 at the Session Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, according to the Election Commission. The voting will run from 2 pm to 5 pm, allowing for any delays in the arrival of members of parliament. Ballots will be delivered to MPs by election officials, and each ballot will include the candidate's serial number, voter's name, division number, and a space for the voter's signature.
Each ballot will have two parts: a counterfoil and the main ballot. The counterfoil will include necessary identification details, while the main ballot will list the names of the contesting candidates on the right side. Voters will write the full name of their chosen candidate beside their name and sign the ballot. Three transparent ballot boxes will be provided for the convenience of the MPs.
After the voting concludes at 5 pm, counting will begin immediately in the presence of the ballot boxes. A team comprising four or five members will sort and count the ballot papers. The Chief Election Commissioner will announce the number of valid and invalid ballots and the votes received by each candidate. The final result will be officially declared by the Election Commission Secretariat through a gazette notification.
The Election Commission has also arranged for live telecasting of the voting process from the Session Hall, providing a designated area for journalists. Special identity cards will be issued to 20 officials involved in the election process. This meticulous process underscores the importance of transparency and accuracy in the presidential election, a critical event for the nation.
