Bangladesh's cricket season has been marred by injuries, casting a shadow over their upcoming Test series in Australia. Senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin voiced his disappointment at the absence of fast bowler Nahid Rana, whose potent bouncers would have been a significant asset against formidable Australian batsmen.
Speaking to media, Salahuddin shared his excitement for the young talent's potential impact. 'I was very excited to see Nahid Rana bowling bouncers to Australian batters, especially against Marnus Labuchagne and Steve Smith,' he revealed.
Despite the setbacks, Bangladesh's preparation for the tour continues, though not without challenges. Four fast bowlers and one batter are currently sidelined, disrupting the team's dynamics. Nahid Rana, however, departed for Australia to undergo specialized treatment, aiming to recover swiftly.
Salahuddin emphasized the importance of focusing on the available resources rather than dwelling on the missing players. 'Since Nahid Rana is not in the tour, there is no point dwelling on it. I think the bowlers who are there can do very well if they bowl a little more intelligently,' he noted.
Despite the injury concerns, Salahuddin remains confident in the Test squad's readiness and mindset. 'I am always optimistic about the Test team. The players are very aware of themselves, understand their goals, and they are more organized. There is no reason as to why they won't do well,' he added.
Looking ahead, Salahuddin outlined the team's objectives for the Test campaign. 'I hope we can produce good performances in the coming away Tests. If we can also win our four home Tests, I think we can be among the top two or three teams,' he expressed hope for a climb in the rankings.
