Eid-ul-Adha involves significant hand usage due to meat cutting and frequent washing, leading to dryness, roughness, and cuticle damage. Proper hand care is crucial both before and after Eid.
Before Eid, start hand care at least three days prior. Use good hand cream or moisturizer at night. For those with quickly drying hands, a mix of glycerin, aloe vera gel, and moisturizer is beneficial.
Weekly light scrubbing can remove dead skin cells, making hands smoother. Avoid overly long nails to prevent discomfort and bacterial infections from raw meat contact.
Consider a manicure three to four days before Eid for clean and presentable hands. Post-Eid, a repair or hydrating manicure can help restore dryness and damaged cuticles, especially beneficial for those involved in cooking or meat processing.
During Eid, keep nails short and clean for ease of work and hygiene. Regular cleaning and avoiding dirt accumulation under nails are essential. Use cuticle oil or coconut/almond oil for stronger nails. Avoid heavy nail art or gel polish due to prolonged water and raw meat exposure.
Hands may become excessively dry from constant washing with water, soap, and detergent. Use moisturizer after each hand wash and opt for mild handwash instead of harsh soaps. Wearing gloves while washing dishes or handling meat can protect hands.
