The 42nd death anniversary of former Chief of Naval Staff and minister Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan was observed with various programs, paying tribute to his contributions to the nation. His family, including daughters Shahina Khan Zaman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and granddaughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, placed floral wreaths at his grave in Banani Military Cemetery. Quran recitation and doa mahfil were held at the cemetery and his residence, 'Mahbub Bhaban' in Dhanmondi.
The Bangladesh Navy and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan also paid tribute by placing floral wreaths and participating in special munajat. Various mosques and institutions across the capital, including Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and 'Surbhi' for underprivileged children, held Quran recitation, doa mahfil, and special munajat.
Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan served as Chief of Naval Staff from 1979 and later in the cabinet of President Ziaur Rahman's government. He passed away on August 6, 1984. His legacy continues to inspire, marked by his honesty, dedication, hard work, charity, and sacrifice.
The day also saw Quran khatam, prayer gatherings, and food distribution at the dargah mosques of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet district. The events highlighted his enduring impact on Bangladesh's naval and political history.
