In response to recent heavy rainfall and waterlogging that caused damage to several roads in Chattogram, Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain has directed all concerned authorities to promptly repair the affected roads. Hossain stressed the importance of minimizing public suffering and ensuring smooth communication across the city. He emphasized zero tolerance for negligence or substandard work in any development projects.

During an inspection tour of critical roads and ongoing projects, including areas from Tiger-pass to Oxygen and Ward No. 1 South Pahartali to Ward No. 41 Patenga, the mayor issued specific directives to engineers and officials to take immediate corrective actions. He also visited the under-construction roundabout at Oxygen intersection, directing the executive engineer to expedite the completion of the work.

Hossain instructed the acting chief executive officer and secretary to ensure the swift removal of accumulated garbage from major road islands and to enhance tree plantation and beautification efforts. He highlighted the city's commitment to building a clean, green, healthy, safe, and smart Chattogram through coordinated initiatives in cleanliness, road development, greening, and beautification.

The mayor urged all officials to maintain regular field presence to supervise development activities and ensure citizen-friendly services. During the inspection, CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Md Ashraful Amin, Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, and other officials accompanied the mayor. This initiative is crucial for Chattogram’s urban development and reflects the city’s commitment to infrastructure resilience.

By addressing the infrastructure challenges promptly, Chattogram aims to improve its urban resilience against adverse weather conditions, which is essential for the overall economic and social well-being of Bangladesh.
