Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit three flood-affected upazilas in Chattogram on August 9. This visit marks his first official tour to the region since assuming office. He will distribute relief aid and hand over newly built houses to families displaced by recent floods.

Significance of the Visit

The visit underscores the government's commitment to providing immediate relief to those affected by the floods. By distributing relief and new housing, the Prime Minister aims to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts in the affected areas.

The local administration has reportedly completed the construction of new homes for flood-displaced families in Hathazari, Fatikchhari, and Banshkhali. Preparations for the Prime Minister’s arrival include the construction of a designated helipad for his helicopter to land.

Preparations Underway

Chattogram's BNP Convener Idris Mia stated that the party is ready to welcome the Prime Minister, although the final program details are still pending. The Chattogram Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Shorif Uddin confirmed that the district administration is making necessary arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit.

From the helipad, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to travel to West Banshkhali to address a public gathering, distribute relief aid, and hand over 100 newly reconstructed houses to flood-affected families.

The Prime Minister’s visit is anticipated to boost morale and provide much-needed support to the flood victims in the region.
