Land Minister Highlights Government's Focus on Health and Education in Rajshahi

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu emphasized the government's commitment to health and education during the closing ceremony of a heart disease screening programme.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu today said the government has attached the highest priority to the health and education sectors and will continue extending all-out support for the development of healthcare services across the country. He made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of a three-day congenital heart disease screening and treatment programme for children aged between three and 18 at the Rajshahi National Heart Foundation as the chief guest.

Programme Overview

The programme, held from July 22 to 24, was jointly organised by the Rajshahi National Heart Foundation, the Department of Pediatric Cardiology of China's Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital, and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital (NICVD), Dhaka. The event aimed to provide essential screenings and treatments for congenital heart diseases among children.

Minister's Announcements

Highlighting Bangladesh-China relations, the minister said the historic friendship between the two countries was initiated by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and has reached a new height following Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent visit to China. Referring to infrastructure development, Minu announced that a special project would be undertaken to widen the road linking the Court-Natore Road with the Rajshahi National Heart Foundation. He directed the Rajshahi City Corporation and the Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) to take the necessary steps to implement the project.

He also assured that the Ministry of Health would provide a special grant for the second-phase development of the Rajshahi National Heart Foundation. The minister stressed the need to ensure world-class healthcare facilities in Rajshahi by utilizing China's advanced medical technology and expertise.

Event Details

The function was chaired by Rajshahi National Heart Foundation President Md. Abdul Mannan. Among others, Deputy Director-in-Charge of China's Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital and leader of the Chinese expert team Lu Jiang, Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, NICVD Department Head and National Heart Foundation Life Member Prof. Dr. Md. Ataul Haque, National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute Chief Consultant and Director Prof. Dr. Md. Rais Uddin, and National Heart Foundation Vice Presidents Hasen Ali and Maksudul Karim Samrat addressed the programme. Doctors, social workers, political leaders and media personnel were also present.
