The Education Ministry has suspended the online registration process for eighth-grade students under all education boards for the year 2026. A letter from the Secondary and Higher Education Division stated that the Junior School Certificate (JSC) exam is currently discontinued.
Students enrolling in sixth grade and later for the SSC exam usually complete separate registrations. Continuing online registration for eighth grade would create additional pressure on students and parents.
Ministry sources said that the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board issued a revised notification on April 29, instructing eighth-grade students on registration. However, considering the overall situation, the government decided to suspend this registration process.
The decision aims to reduce additional administrative and financial pressure on students and alleviate parental concerns. All secondary and higher secondary education boards have been requested to suspend the eighth-grade registration process.
Officials from the Education Ministry mentioned that the long-term discontinuation of the JSC exam raised questions about the need for separate registration in eighth grade. Parents were confused and concerned about the online (CSIF) form filling process.
Although online registration was considered to simplify student data storage and future education management, it has been suspended for now due to the current situation. Education board officials confirmed that the online registration process for eighth grade will be halted following the ministry's instructions. Relevant educational institutions are being informed.
