Prime Minister's Adviser and spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, Mahdi Amin, underscored the collective nature of the July Mass Uprising during the 'First Conference on the July Revolution'. Amin clarified that the uprising was driven by the spontaneous participation of diverse groups, including common citizens, democratic political parties, and individuals from various ideological backgrounds.
Broad-Based Participation
Amin noted that the uprising succeeded because of the impulsive participation of people from all walks of life, transcending affiliations from right-wing, left-wing, centrist, and Islamist groups. This inclusivity marked a significant departure from movements led by specific political factions, illustrating the uprising's widespread appeal and grassroots momentum.
Addressing the conference, Amin highlighted the government's commitment to implementing the July Charter precisely as it was signed. He assured that justice would be served for the victims of the uprising and that the government would honor the aspirations of the July martyrs, striving to create an egalitarian and just Bangladesh.
Support for Victims and Future Aspirations
The Prime Minister's Adviser expressed the government's dedication to providing long-term support to those injured during the uprising, many of whom are still struggling to return to normal life. He pledged continued assistance for these individuals and their families, recognizing their sacrifices.
Amin emphasized the government's determination to build a sovereign and discrimination-free Bangladesh. He reiterated the government's commitment to honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs and establishing a justice-based state, ensuring that the vision of a united and equitable nation prevails.
The conference also shed light on the extensive human rights abuses that accompanied the uprising and preceding movements, with over 400 leaders and activists losing their lives and thousands subjected to enforced disappearance, torture, and persecution.
