Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly today said the government will gradually provide state recognition and extend support to those who were killed or injured during decades of democratic movements and struggles in honour of their sacrifices. Speaking at the closing ceremony of a special photo exhibition titled ‘15 Years of Fascism and the Mass Uprising of 2024’ at the Jatiya Press Club, Shibly emphasized that while some patience is needed, the state will honor and assist the victims in phases. The exhibition was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association (BPJA) and Amra BNP Paribar.
Shibly noted the challenges the current government faces, including the impact of the global war situation, economic pressures, and crises inherited from the previous government. He assured that the government is working towards building a safe and democratic Bangladesh, despite the delays in implementing certain initiatives.
Recalling the country’s history of democratic movements, Shibly paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives and sustained injuries during struggles against fascism. He also acknowledged the contributions of journalists who were killed or injured during these movements, praying for the eternal peace of the departed souls and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The press secretary highlighted that it is not possible to recognize every sacrifice overnight but assured that the state would gradually acknowledge everyone's contributions. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made it clear that those who were killed or injured during the country’s long democratic movements would receive state recognition and assistance in phases.
Shibly called for the cooperation of journalists, photojournalists, and people from all walks of life in building a safe, democratic, and humane Bangladesh. He expressed confidence that the rebuilding efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman would continue to realize the aspirations of the martyrs.
