An eight-year-old girl was tragically killed after the wall of an abandoned mud house collapsed on her due to continuous heavy rainfall in Narsingdi’s Raipura upazila. The incident occurred around 12:30pm today in Maijpara village under Morjal Union. The deceased has been identified as Tanzhuma Akter, an 8-year-old Class-I student at the local Maijpara Government Primary School.

According to police and local residents, Tanzhuma had just returned home after school when the wall of a roofless, abandoned mud house beside her home suddenly collapsed due to incessant rainfall. Asma Begum, a reserved member of Morjal Union Parishad, noted that the prolonged heavy rain had weakened the structure, causing the wall to cave in.
