An eight-year-old girl was tragically killed after the wall of an abandoned mud house collapsed on her due to continuous heavy rainfall in Narsingdi’s Raipura upazila. The incident occurred around 12:30pm today in Maijpara village under Morjal Union. The deceased has been identified as Tanzhuma Akter, an 8-year-old Class-I student at the local Maijpara Government Primary School.

According to police and local residents, Tanzhuma had just returned home after school when the wall of a roofless, abandoned mud house beside her home suddenly collapsed due to incessant rainfall. She was trapped under the debris and died on the spot. Asma Begum, a reserved member of Morjal Union Parishad, noted that the prolonged heavy rain had weakened the structure, causing the wall to cave in.

Md Mujibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Raipura Police Station, confirmed that police visited the scene after receiving information about the accident. OC Mujibur Rahman said police have spoken with the victim's family and will take the necessary steps regarding the incident.
Family's Grief
Asma Begum added that the incident has cast a shadow of grief over the family. The girl's father is currently in Cox's Bazar, and the family will hold her funeral after he returns home.
