In the wake of record rainfall, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has pledged to find a permanent solution to the persistent issue of waterlogging across the city. Recent heavy downpours have exacerbated the problem, prompting the Mayor to take immediate action.

Dr. Shahadat, accompanied by officials from the Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defense, inspected waterlogged areas, including the Fire Service and Civil Defense office in Agrabad Chowmuhani. He directed Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury and Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman to identify and implement measures to permanently alleviate waterlogging.

The Mayor stressed the importance of community cooperation, urging citizens to refrain from disposing waste in drains, ditches, and canals. He highlighted ongoing efforts to clean key watercourses, such as Nasir Khal Chhatra and Lalmia Khal Chhatra, to mitigate waterlogging in the Dewanhat Agrabad area.

Dr. Shahadat expressed optimism that ensuring the normal flow of these canals and Chhatras would significantly reduce waterlogging during the monsoon season. Fire Service and Civil Defense officials, former councilor Niaz Mohammad Khan, women leader Fatema Badsha, and other relevant officials were present during the inspection.

The Mayor's proactive approach and emphasis on community involvement signal a concerted effort to address the long-standing issue of waterlogging in Chattogram, aiming for a sustainable solution that benefits all residents.
