In a concerted effort to curb criminal activities, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have detained 463 individuals in a series of operations across the city over the past 24 hours. According to a DMP statement, 40 criminal cases were filed during this period. The operations spanned multiple divisions, with Mirpur Division reporting the highest number of arrests at 125 individuals.

The police have also seized a significant amount of contraband and weapons. The haul includes 1,653 pieces of yaba, 70 kg 100 grams of marijuana, 86 bottles of phensidyle syrup, one foreign-made pistol, one magazine, four rounds of bullets, two pickup vans, seven mobile phones, and cash amounting to Tk 17,550. Additionally, a victim was rescued from captivity.

The arrests were distributed across various divisions: Ramna Division arrested 31 suspects, Lalbagh Division 54, Wari Division 47, Motijheel Division 47, Tejgaon Division 63, Mirpur Division 125, Gulshan Division 36, Uttara Division 59, and the detective branch (DB) arrested one individual. Legal proceedings against those detained are currently underway.

This extensive drive reflects the ongoing efforts by the DMP to maintain law and order in the city. The operation not only targeted criminals but also aimed to recover illegal substances and weapons, thereby reducing the potential for further criminal activities.

The success of this operation underscores the importance of continuous police vigilance and community cooperation in combating crime. As the legal process unfolds, the DMP remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Dhaka's residents.
