Dhaka, Aug 4, 2026 - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon has urged the nation to build enduring state and social institutions inspired by the spirit of the July Mass Uprising. Addressing a memorial discussion at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Swapon emphasized that breaking the cycle of political unrest and violent movements is crucial for Bangladesh's stability.

Need for Stable Institutions

Swapon highlighted that despite numerous political transitions and parliamentary elections, including the most credible one recently, the country has not established stable institutions capable of nurturing merit, justice, and democratic governance. He stressed the importance of stronger parliamentary and judicial institutions backed by accountability and public trust.

Reforming Structural Weaknesses

The minister called for efforts to reform structural weaknesses that have hindered the country's ability to fully utilize its talented citizens. He advocated for a discrimination-free and humane Bangladesh that ensures future generations benefit from equitable and inclusive development.

Swapon also highlighted the role of educators, stating that teachers must promote ethical values and democratic ideals among young people. He emphasized that mentors are essential in guiding the next generation towards a stable and prosperous future.
