Health officials reported one death and 338 new hospitalizations due to dengue in the past 24 hours. The new cases were spread across various divisions, with 76 in Barishal, 66 in Chattogram, 18 in Dhaka division, 76 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 41 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 34 in Khulna, 11 in Mymensingh, six in Rajshahi, and 10 in Rangpur. Since the start of the year, dengue has claimed 38 lives and affected 11,195 people in Bangladesh. Last year, the disease resulted in 413 deaths and 102,861 cases, while in 2024, it caused 575 deaths and 101,214 cases.
The recent surge in dengue cases underscores the ongoing public health challenge in Bangladesh. The mosquito-borne disease has been a persistent issue, with significant outbreaks occurring annually. Efforts to control the spread of dengue involve both preventive measures and medical interventions. Public awareness campaigns, mosquito control programs, and timely medical care are crucial in managing the outbreak.
