The Commonwealth Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS-BCCI) has called on the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) to grant voting rights and equitable representation to Joint Chambers. This request was made during a meeting with the FBCCI's newly-appointed Administrator, Md. Fazlul Haque, at the chamber's Motijheel office.
Significance of Joint Chambers in Trade
Joint Chambers, which often represent diverse business interests and international partnerships, play a crucial role in the trade ecosystem. Their participation ensures that a wide range of perspectives and needs are considered in policy and decision-making processes.
CIS-BCCI President Jadab Debnath emphasized the importance of these chambers in promoting and protecting the interests of the business community. He highlighted that meaningful participation from Joint Chambers would strengthen the overall trade and investment environment in Bangladesh.
The meeting also discussed the need for reduced membership subscription fees for Joint Chambers. This reduction would help ensure that these chambers can maintain their operational viability and continue to contribute effectively to the trade body.
FBCCI's Role in Trade Governance
FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque acknowledged the importance of the request and stressed the need for stronger cooperation among business organizations. He recognized the mutual benefits of inclusive governance and pledged to consider the demands of Joint Chambers seriously.
The CIS-BCCI delegation included Senior Vice President Tauhida Sultana, Directors Salma Hossain Ash, Md. Enamul Haque, and Khan Md. Iqbal, Advisers Mahbub Islam Runu and MS Siddiqui, and Deputy Secretary Md. Abdullah Al Mamun. Their presence underscored the collective effort to advocate for Joint Chambers within the FBCCI.
Ensuring voting rights and fair representation for Joint Chambers is not just a matter of organizational justice but also a strategic move to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of trade governance in Bangladesh.
