On August 12, 2026, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a 30-year-old man, Kabir Hossain Nayan, in Jashore for possessing a gold bar worth Taka 25.62 lakh. The arrest took place on the Jashore-Chuadanga road during a routine operation by the BGB 49 Battalion, based on confidential information.
Key Details of the Incident
Lieutenant Colonel Golam Mohammad Saiful Alam Khan, commanding officer of the BGB 49 Battalion, led the operation. Nayan, a resident of Sutia village in Chuadanga district, was intercepted near the Churamonkati railway crossing. A search revealed a gold bar weighing 116.62 grams, with an estimated market value of Taka 25,62,141.
Legal proceedings are underway against Nayan, and the BGB continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the smuggling attempt.
