Prime Minister Tarique Rahman underscores the government's commitment to protecting workers' rights and implementing international labour standards.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today emphasized that his government is giving the highest importance to protecting workers' rights, ensuring a safe working environment, and implementing international labour standards. This statement came during a courtesy call by International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

During the meeting, Houngbo congratulated Rahman on assuming office and praised the government for its diplomatic achievements. He also commended Bangladesh's ongoing labour sector reforms and commitment to international labour standards, which are being positively recognized globally.

The discussion also covered areas such as workers' protection, skills development, expanding employment opportunities, and the development of a skilled workforce. Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation to further advance labour sector reform initiatives.

Prime Minister Rahman reiterated his government's commitment to a worker-friendly and sustainable working environment. The ILO director-general expressed his commitment to further expanding cooperation with Bangladesh for the development of the country's labour sector.
