In a significant address at the Tangail Press Club, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku underscored the pivotal role of newspapers as the mirror of a nation. Tuku spoke as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the weekly newspaper 'Samay Taranga', emphasizing that newspapers not only expose societal flaws and anomalies but also guide people towards the right path, ensuring the smooth management of society.
Tuku elaborated on the dual function of newspapers, stating they serve to illuminate societal shortcomings while also providing direction. He underscored the necessity for ethical journalism, asserting that any unethical practices must be avoided. 'Newspapers also play an important role in providing guidance so that people follow the right path and society is managed beautifully and systematically,' Tuku noted.
Addressing press freedom, the minister pledged unwavering support for the democratic process. 'We will never obstruct the democratic process. We will not interfere in anyone's freedom. We will extend our fullest cooperation to journalists,' he assured.
A New Voice in Tangail
The event was chaired by Md Rownak Ali, Editor and Publisher of 'Samay Taranga'. Several notable figures from the local political landscape were in attendance, including District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shahin, former Member Secretary of District BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, Sadar Upazila BNP President Azgar Ali, and Tangail Press Club General Secretary Kazi Zakerul Mowla.
