In a poignant ceremony held in Magura, Culture Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury underscored the nation's eternal gratitude for the sacrifices of martyrs Ahad and Suman. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and tribute-paying program organized by the Mohammadpur Upazila Administration to mark 'July Martyrs' Day 2026,' the minister highlighted how the bloodshed of these young heroes has inspired the dream of a new, discrimination-free Bangladesh.
'Today, we dream of a new, discrimination-free Bangladesh because of the sacrifices made by young people like martyrs Ahad and Suman. The Bengali nation will forever remember their great sacrifice with gratitude,' Chowdhury stated. He noted that July Martyrs' Day is observed nationwide through both government and private initiatives.
The special program was jointly inaugurated by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs from Rasulpur in Mohammadpur. The government is committed to ensuring the successful implementation of this program in every upazila of the country.
Chowdhury also referenced various welfare-oriented and anti-discrimination initiatives by the interim government, including the waiver of taxes on essential commodities for rural people, the introduction of 'Family Cards' for responsible female members, and 'Farmer Cards' to support farmers directly.
Additionally, the minister discussed efforts to enhance social and religious harmony, employment generation, and increasing remittance inflows and overseas employment opportunities. The program was chaired by Mohammadpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bedabati Mistry, with local dignitaries, government officials, student leaders, and people from all walks of life in attendance.
