State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin today said the government will remove disparities by ensuring balanced development in every upazila across the country. He made the remarks after visiting flood-affected areas in the border upazila of Baghaichhari in Rangamati this afternoon. The state minister said the land acquisition process for the Baghaichhari Fire Station has already begun and construction work will start soon.
Commitment to Modern Infrastructure
He also said work has commenced to build modern land offices in every upazila across the country, which will be completed in phases. These efforts aim to provide efficient services and reduce disparities in development. The state minister emphasized the government's commitment to extending all-out assistance to flood-affected hill families.
Sustainable Development and Health Initiatives
Mir Helal said the government would attach special importance to achieving sustainable solutions and development. He mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already announced the construction of 100-bed health complexes in every upazila, and work has begun to implement this initiative.
Addressing Flood Damage
Earlier, the state minister visited different flood-hit and damaged areas of the upazila, spoke with the affected people and later distributed relief materials among them. Continuous rainfall and flash floods from the hills inundated 30 villages in Baghaichhari, damaging roads, culverts, cropland, fish enclosures, ponds, educational institutions, and hundreds of dwelling houses. Road communication between Baghaichhari and Khagrachhari has yet to return to normal.
Why This Matters for Bangladesh
Ensuring balanced development in every upazila is crucial for reducing regional disparities and promoting equitable growth across Bangladesh. This approach not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters long-term sustainable development, improving the quality of life for all citizens.
