The government has revised an interim regime decision to observe the National Youth Day on November 1 instead of August 12. The Cabinet Division announced this change, stating that the new date will facilitate festivities by avoiding the monsoon season.

Reasons for the Change

The interim government had previously changed the date to August 12 to coincide with the International Youth Day. However, the Cabinet found this date inconvenient for celebrations due to generally inclement weather caused by monsoon rains. This made it difficult to stage rallies or fairs, which are essential for showcasing young entrepreneurs' innovations and product sales.

Separate Observances

The Cabinet approved a proposal to observe the International Youth Day on August 12 and the National Youth Day on November 1 separately every year. The National Youth Day celebrations are funded by the government, while the International Youth Day is generally observed with support from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and development partners.
