The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the main accused in the kidnapping and rape of a college girl from village Bhagirpara under Birganj police station of Dinajpur district. The arrestee is Md Ibrahim Hussain Emon, 24, son of Md Tawaz Uddin of the same village. The arrest took place on Friday midnight following a tip-off.
Incident Details
According to a press release, the victim is a student of local Birganj Degree College who resides in a mess in Birganj upazila town. The accused had been pursuing the victim for a long time. Initially, the victim did not reciprocate, but the accused later started a relationship by intimidating her.
Abduction and Assault
On April 19, 2026, at 12:45 pm, the accused took the victim on a motorcycle from in front of a cinema hall and brought her to his rented house in Birganj town. There, he raped the college girl against her will by tempting her to marry.
Legal Action
Following the incident, the victim's paternal uncle filed a case in a Dinajpur court on charges of kidnapping and rape. The case was registered at Birganj police station on May 8, 2026.
Arrest and Next Steps
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-13 from Dinajpur Camp conducted a raid in village Bhagirpara and arrested Md Ibrahim Hussain Emon at 11:45 pm on Friday. The accused has been handed over to Birganj police station for further legal proceedings.
