Mir Helal: Government Investigates Causes of Flooding in Chittagong Hill Tracts

State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin announced ongoing efforts to identify the causes of flooding and waterlogging in the three hill districts.

The government is working to identify the causes of flooding and waterlogging in different areas of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, according to State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin. Speaking at a relief distribution programme in Bandarban, he emphasized the need for overall infrastructural development and improved living standards in these districts.

Mir Helal highlighted efforts to create employment opportunities and support rehabilitation for those affected by recent floods. He noted, "We are trying to identify the causes behind the sudden surge of water, flooding and waterlogging in certain areas."

Riverbank erosion has been observed in some places, prompting plans for embankments and marine drive construction. The state minister also visited flood-affected areas in Rowangchhari upazila, distributing relief materials to affected residents.

Among those present at the relief distribution programme were local Member of Parliament Sachingpru Jerry, Member of Parliament Madhabi Marma, Chairman of the Hill District Council Prof Thanjama Lusai, Deputy Commissioner Md Saniul Ferdous, Superintendent of Police Md Ohabul Islam Khandaker, Bandarban District BNP Member Secretary Javed Reza, and officials from various government and non-government organizations.
