Thousands of job candidates, who have successfully passed all stages of written and oral examinations and been finally selected by the PSC, are now stuck in limbo awaiting the publication of a gazette or notification. The prolonged delay has caused financial strain for many candidates, who have quit part-time jobs or tutoring in anticipation of their new roles. This situation affects nearly 2,500 candidates from the 45th General BCS and 49th Special BCS.
Candidates report that police verification for both BCS exams has been completed, and files are currently with the National Security Intelligence (NSI) for re-verification. However, the entire process has inexplicably stalled. The 49th Special BCS notification was published on July 21, 2025, with over 312,000 applicants for 683 positions. The final results were announced on November 11, 2025. Meanwhile, the 45th General BCS, with 1,807 candidates, has been waiting for over six months since the final results were declared on November 27, 2025.
Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Sabiha Fatematuz-Johra, informed Prothom Alo that the verification process is ongoing and the gazette will be published promptly upon completion. Earlier, in May, the Deputy Minister of Public Administration, Abdul Bari, also assured that the gazette would be published as soon as all verification files reached the ministry. Despite these assurances, candidates continue to face prolonged uncertainty and mental strain.
