Bangladesh has witnessed a sharp rise in dengue cases, with health officials reporting 473 new infections and one death within the past 24 hours. The outbreak has now resulted in 34 deaths and 10,485 cases since the start of the year. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed that 75 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 63 in Chattogram division, 84 in Dhaka division, 37 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 44 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 66 in Khulna division, 36 in Mymensingh division, 23 in Rajshahi division, 42 in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
The current dengue outbreak is part of a larger trend that has affected Bangladesh in recent years. In 2025, the disease claimed 413 lives and infected 1,02,861 people. The previous year, 2024, saw 575 deaths and 1,01,214 infections. The continuous surge in cases underscores the urgent need for effective measures to control the spread of dengue.
