In the past 24 hours, Bangladesh has recorded two more deaths from dengue, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 32. Health officials also reported 306 new cases, with patients hospitalized across various divisions.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed that 58 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 66 in Chattogram, 26 in Dhaka, 41 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 28 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 38 in Khulna, 13 in Mymensingh, 13 in Rajshahi, and 23 in Rangpur.

Since the beginning of the year, Bangladesh has witnessed 9,676 dengue cases. Last year, the dengue outbreak claimed 413 lives and affected 1,02,861 people. In 2024, the disease resulted in 575 deaths and 1,01,214 infections.

The ongoing dengue crisis has put significant strain on the country's healthcare system, with hospitals struggling to accommodate the increasing number of patients. Health authorities are urging the public to take preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that can lead to severe flu-like illness and, in some cases, a potentially lethal complication called severe dengue. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
