The Department of Social Services (DSS) distributed Taka 50 lakh among 100 patients suffering from chronic diseases as a medical assistance grant. The event, held at the Rangpur Group Auditorium of Rangpur Community Medical College and Hospital, saw patients with conditions such as cancer, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, stroke, congenital heart disease, and thalassemia each receiving a cheque for Taka 50,000. This assistance was provided under the government's Financial Assistance Programme for Patients Suffering from various chronic diseases.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin attended the event as the chief guest, emphasizing the government's commitment to expanding social security programmes. He highlighted the aim of ensuring no patient is deprived of necessary services due to high treatment costs. Managing Director of Rangpur Group Md Nazmul Ahsan Sarkar also spoke, commending the efforts of all involved in delivering government grants to beneficiaries.
The distribution of these grants is part of a broader initiative to support those suffering from chronic illnesses, ensuring they have access to the medical care they need.
