The documentary 'Payer Chhap', which chronicles the life and struggles of Ayesha Aktar, a Bangladeshi woman born without arms who achieved a first-class Masters degree using her feet, will be screened in several Chinese educational institutions. Produced by Channel i and directed by Mustafa Mallik, the documentary has received widespread acclaim and official approval from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. Renowned Chinese photographer and urban planner Liu Jie has translated the documentary into Chinese and compared Ayesha's story to that of Zhang Haidi, a famous disabled woman in China. The documentary will be shown at South China Normal University, South China Agricultural University, and three high schools in China.
Ayesha's journey, marked by numerous challenges and triumphs, has inspired many. Despite being rejected by primary school teachers and facing societal neglect, she persevered with the support of local educators and administrators. Her life took a significant turn after a report by Mustafa Mallik on Channel i, leading to her receiving the 'Legend Award' and a grant that helped her family build a permanent home. With further support from a French expatriate businessman, Ayesha pursued higher education and achieved a first-class Masters degree in 2025.
Ayesha's achievements have been recognized by prominent figures, including BUET Professor ABM Harun Ur Rashid, University of South Australia Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, Supreme Court Senior Lawyer Barrister Omar Sadat, and Dhaka University Professor Abdullah Al Mamun. Media personality Shaikh Siraj described her as an 'eye-opener' for many. Currently, Ayesha is preparing for a job while teaching underprivileged children in her village free of charge. Channel i has pledged to provide her with a monthly stipend of 10,000 Taka until she secures permanent employment.
