Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has intensified its drain cleaning activities to remove silt and garbage from drains and prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season. The cleaning drive is being carried out under the direction of RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton to keep the city's drainage system functional and reduce public sufferings.
RCC workers are removing silt, mud, bushes, and weeds from drains in different areas of the city as part of the ongoing cleanliness campaign. As part of the drive, silt was removed from several drains in Uposhohor under Ward No. 14. Cleaning activities are also continuing at the road-side drain adjacent to Greater Road and different drains in Padma Residential Area.
The RCC Administrator has instructed officials and employees concerned to strengthen cleanliness activities, mosquito control measures, silt removal, tree plantation, greening, and beautification programmes to build a clean, safe, and livable city. Local residents have welcomed the initiative, highlighting the long-overdue cleaning of drains which had caused rainwater stagnation on roads.
