Under the government's Annual Development Programme, 127 underprivileged, meritorious students and financially disadvantaged people in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur district received bicycles, sewing machines, and wheelchairs. The distribution took place at a function held at the upazila parishad auditorium.
Member of Parliament for Dinajpur-1 (Birganj-Kaharol) Md. Manjurul Islam handed over the assistance as the chief guest. A total of 52 meritorious students received bicycles, 50 underprivileged women were provided with sewing machines, and 25 people with disabilities received wheelchairs.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Suma Khatun presided over the event, which was attended by officials from various government departments, local public representatives, teachers, distinguished citizens, and beneficiaries. Speaking at the event, lawmaker Manjurul Islam highlighted the importance of the Prime Minister's and the government's development initiatives in reaching marginalized communities.
He urged students to remain dedicated to their studies and encouraged the women who received sewing machines to use them for self-employment and economic empowerment.
