Renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja is among 10 climbers missing after an avalanche struck Broad Peak (8,047 meters) in the Karakoram mountain range in northern Pakistan, according to the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP). The team, led by Nepal-born Purja, has been unreachable since the incident.

The ACP reported that they received concerning reports of the avalanche hitting the climbing team. Efforts are underway to determine the status of the climbers and the extent of the damage caused by the avalanche.
