The government is dedicated to discovering talented athletes from the grassroots level and providing them with opportunities to excel nationally and internationally, according to State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Prime Minister's Gold Cup Tournament, he highlighted the objective of identifying talent from marginalized communities and supporting their development. Mir Helal believes that a structured talent identification system at the union and upazila levels will strengthen the country's sports sector.

Objective and Vision

Mir Helal outlined the government's objective to identify talent from marginalized communities, emphasizing the importance of providing opportunities for their development. He noted that sports can play a crucial role in protecting young people from drug abuse and other social problems. Additionally, he mentioned that many countries offer scholarships based on sporting achievements, which could serve as a model for Bangladesh.

International Aspirations

The state minister stressed the need to create more opportunities for talented Bangladeshi athletes to compete and excel on the international stage. He believes that by nurturing talent from the grassroots, Bangladesh can enhance its presence in global sports competitions. The press conference, held at the July Smrity Hall of the Chattogram Press Club, was attended by Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain, MPs Ershad Ullah and Abu Sufian, Education Secretary Abdul Khalek, and other distinguished guests.
