The meeting between Bangladesh's Fisheries, Livestock, and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Amin Ur Rashid and Malaysia's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Othman, highlighted potential avenues for collaboration and investment.
Minister Rashid underscored the potential for joint ventures, technology transfer, and trade expansion in these sectors. He specifically mentioned the potential export of Bangladesh's Black Bengal goat, renowned for its quality, to Malaysia. The meeting also explored the prospects of exporting fish, meat, milk, and other animal products, emphasizing the need for increased investment and skilled manpower development.
Export Potential and Knowledge Exchange
Both ministers agreed on the necessity of enhancing bilateral relations through technology and knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and the development of agri-livestock trade. Malaysia expressed its interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to expand trade in promising animal and agricultural products, including the Black Bengal goat, and in strengthening ties between the public and private sectors of both nations.
Highlighting Bangladesh's progress in agriculture and livestock, High Commissioner Othman praised the country's advancements and reiterated Malaysia's commitment to supporting these efforts. The discussions were part of a broader strategy to utilize the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries for mutual benefit.
The meeting also featured the presence of First Secretary of the Malaysian High Commission, Hazwan Hasnol, who participated in the fruitful discussions.
