Whip of Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia, MP, inaugurated a 60-meter girder bridge over the Ichamati River in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur district, opening it to public traffic. Built at a cost of Taka 5.21 crore under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Dinajpur, the bridge connects Planer Bazar with Hajirhat via Bottoli Bazar, enhancing road communication for local residents. The bridge was officially opened around 10.30 am, confirmed by LGED Executive Engineer Md. Masudur Rahman.
Improved Connectivity and Development Projects
Speaking at the inauguration, Akhtaruzzaman highlighted the government's commitment to development, mentioning several projects undertaken ahead of the national election. He also referred to the resumption of the long-delayed Joyantiya Ghat bridge project and discussed plans for a major bridge over the Atrai River, expected to be completed within the next five years.
Additional Inaugurations and Distributions
Following the bridge inauguration, Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the renovated hallroom at the Khansama Upazila Parishad Complex. He distributed sewing machines to members of small ethnic communities, bicycles and stipends to students, sports equipment to educational institutions, and wheelchairs to persons with disabilities.
