Two women were killed in separate train accidents today in the Sukhanpukur area of Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur district. The deceased were identified as Rasheda Begum, 55, wife of Jamal Uddin of Dakshin Dudhyabari village, and Airin Akhter Tarin, 21, wife of Abdur Rouf of Paran village of Pirgachha upazila. Rasheda Begum was hit by the Santahar-bound Dolanchapa Express, while Airin Akhter Tarin was crushed under the wheels of the Lalmonirhat-bound Padmarag train. As no complaints have been filed by the families, the bodies were handed over to relatives after completing the legal process.

The accidents occurred in the Sukhanpukur area, a region known for its railway traffic. The circumstances leading to the incidents are currently under investigation by local authorities.

Train accidents are a significant concern in Bangladesh, often resulting from a combination of factors including infrastructure challenges, human error, and lack of safety measures. These incidents highlight the need for improved railway safety protocols and public awareness campaigns.
