A truck driver has been arrested within 24 hours in connection with a fatal road accident in Khulna's Dighalia upazila, which left three people dead. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 apprehended Tarikul Islam, the son of Monowar Hossain from Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah district, in a joint operation in the Naldanga area under Kaliganj upazila.

The tragic accident occurred on July 31 at around 9:45 pm on a paved road at Domra South village under Gazirhat Union. The truck collided head-on with a motorcycle, killing Farzana Khatun, Rubia Khatun, and their two-year-old daughter Maymuna on the spot. The motorcycle rider, Sihab Sheikh, sustained serious injuries.

After the accident, the truck driver and his helper fled the scene. However, agitated locals set the truck on fire before the police intervened and controlled the situation. The burnt truck and the damaged motorcycle were seized as part of the investigation.

Following the completion of initial legal formalities, the arrested driver was handed over to Kaliganj Police Station in Jhenaidah for further legal proceedings. This incident underscores the recurring issue of road safety in Bangladesh, where such accidents often lead to public outrage and calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
